Artwork requirements

When providing artwork for print to Reeva Design, it’s essential to follow certain guidelines to ensure accurate and high-quality results. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to provide artwork for print:

  1. File Formats: We recommend submitting your artwork in high-resolution vector formats such as AI (Adobe Illustrator), EPS (Encapsulated PostScript), or PDF (Portable Document Format). These formats allow for scalability without compromising image quality. If you don’t have access to vector files, high-resolution raster files (JPEG, TIFF, PNG) with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI (dots per inch) are also acceptable for certain types of printing.

  2. Color Mode: Convert your artwork to CMYK color mode for most print projects. CMYK is the standard color model used for printing, representing the four ink colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Key (Black). This ensures accurate color reproduction and minimizes any color variations between your artwork and the final print.

  3. Bleed and Trim: If your artwork extends to the edge of the printed piece, include a bleed. A bleed is an extra area of artwork that extends beyond the final trim size, typically around 3-5mm. This allows for a small margin of error during the cutting process and ensures that there are no white borders. Ensure that important elements, such as text, logos, and graphics, are within the safe zone to avoid any unintentional cropping.

  4. Fonts: Convert all fonts to outlines or include the font files with your artwork. Converting fonts to outlines ensures that the text appears as intended, even if the recipient doesn’t have the specific fonts installed. Including font files is necessary if you’ve used non-standard or custom fonts in your artwork.

  5. Image Quality: Use high-resolution images to maintain sharpness and clarity in your artwork. Avoid using images sourced from the web, as they are typically low resolution and may result in pixelation or blurriness when printed. Ideally, images should have a resolution of 300 DPI or higher.

  6. File Organization: If your project involves multiple files or versions, organize them in a clearly labeled folder or archive before sending. This helps us easily locate and access the correct files during the production process.

  7. Proofread and Review: Before submitting your artwork, thoroughly proofread and review all text, images, and design elements. Check for spelling errors, accuracy of information, and overall layout. Once artwork is approved and sent for production, any changes or revisions may incur additional costs and delays.

  8. Sending Artwork: When your artwork is ready, you can send it to us via email at info@reevadesign.co.za or sales@reevadesign.co.za. Depending on the file size, you may need to compress your files into a ZIP folder or utilize file-sharing platforms for large files. If the files are too large to send via email, we can provide alternative methods for file transfer.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your artwork is print-ready and facilitates a smooth production process.
